Know someone who should be nominated?
YOU can nominate inductees to the Montana Outdoor Hall of Fame! Do you know someone deserving of this honor? If so, please consider submitting a nomination recognizing the outstanding contributions they have made to the restoration, conservation, and protection of our great state of Montana. Every two years, we seek to induct a diverse group of highly qualified individuals into the Montana Outdoor Hall of Fame. Nominees do not have to be living nor do they have to be a resident of Montana, as long as they have spent some time in Montana and the impact to Montana was or is significant. Anyone can nominate a deserving person; inductees are nominated by people through an open public solicitation process.

The MOHF Board of Directors makes the final selection based on the recommendation provided by a review committee comprised of a cross-section of Montana’s conservation and outdoor community.

Nominations for the 2020 induction are due by February 29, 2020.

Here are the minimum inclusion criteria:

  1. The nominee has made a significant contribution to restore, conserve, or protect fish, wildlife, rivers, lands, and other outdoor amenities in Montana.
  2. The nominee has made a significant contribution to advance the public’s interest in and enjoyment of fish, wildlife, rivers, lands, and other outdoor amenities in Montana.
  3. The nominee’s contributions were tailored specifically and uniquely to the challenges facing Montana at the time.
  4. The nominee’s accomplishments are of such a nature as to have lasting significance for Montana.
  5. The nominee’s accomplishments are on par with the scope and breadth of accomplishments set by other inductees of the Montana Outdoor Hall of Fame.
  6. The nominee’s contributions have positively affected others to take actions on behalf of the public’s interest in fish, wildlife, rivers, lands, and other outdoor amenities in Montana.

Nominees are then reviewed and vetted by a group of reviewers representing the cross-section of Montana’s diverse conservation and outdoor community including at least one representative from each of the following categories:

  • Historical community/society
  • State and/or federal natural resource agency
  • Hunting-conservation advocacy community
  • Fishing-conservation advocacy community
  • Wilderness-wild land advocacy community
  • Land trust-preservation community
  • Environmental advocacy community
  • Environmental historian, philosopher, or writer
  • Ranching-farming community
  • Native American community

Please submit your nomination all at once. You will not be able to save it and then return to it at a later date. We suggest writing the entire nomination in a word document and then cutting and pasting sections into this form. That way you have a copy on file in case something doesn’t work. If submitting a nomination online does not work for you at all, please contact Thomas Baumeister at (406) 431-4326 or to make alternative arrangements. Thanks.
